Lead Software Engineer - Platform
The Platform on the Platform team is looking for a passionate engineer to join our growing team. We build the framework which lets partners and customers extend our declarative platform, creating their own configurable software components that integrate seamlessly into the Salesforce platform. We're growing at an incredible rate--weekly usage of custom metadata has increased by a factor of 15 in the past year, and ⅓ of Salesforce's top 20 ISVs use our technology. Our stakeholders span the gamut from the most sophisticated developers on our public platform to point-and-click administrators.
We are looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer with strong designing, programming and automation skills. You should be self-directed, team oriented, know and care what the customer and partner community wants from our service. This position is in a new team which requires your initiative and flexibility. You like to think out of the box, you like to find the hardest problem faced by our customers and make our platform more efficient and powerful. You are a talented, detail oriented and enthusiastic engineer who is passionate about quality and is enthusiastic about the new cutting edge technology offered to consumers. Lastly, you are not afraid to speak your mind, and you yearn to be an evangelist for best approach to solve the problem for customers, scalability and quality on the team.
  • Design and develop the features/products owned by your team. Identify missing test scenarios and refine existing automation.
  • Design, build and enhance features, utilities and tools.
  • Investigate failures, perform root cause analysis and utilize internal defect tracking tool to create detailed, high quality error reports.
  • Contribute to fixing software defects and improving the performance of features and the quality of code.
  • Actively participate in product and feature designs in your scrum team. Closely work with product managers to define functional & system requirements, identify dependencies and product limitations.
  • Be a vocal advocate of customer empathy and risk mitigation.
Required Skills:
  • Required Bachelor's Degree in CS with at least 7+ years of experience.
  • Experience participating in design reviews and possessing the technical acumen to make meaningful contributions to such discussions is important.
  • Innovator with good ideas, strong problem solving abilities, and a results oriented attitude.
  • Strong Java programming and OO design skills.
  • Solid test planning and test automation skills with the ability to build test frameworks from scratch using Java, PL/SQL or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with relational databases, e.g. Oracle.
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in large-scale software designing,deployment and testing processes.
  • Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodology and working experience in Agile environment is strongly desired.
  • Experience with creating metadata-driven development platforms or frameworks is a big plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate people, instill accountability and achieve results.
