Our software engineering interns are considered full time employees by their peers--in fact, you will be expected to contribute right away as a member of our Scrum teams for future releases. As the world leader in enterprise cloud computing, we release 3 new versions every year with close to 100 new features each release. You will write code that reaches millions of subscribers who use our applications everyday, work on our automated testing infrastructure, and craft the tools that provide real-time monitoring of our service. Salesforce is seeking a Platform Intern for the cloud infrastructure operations team with strong Linux system administration experience. As part of this team you'll work on improving the manageability and performance of the Salesforce Commerce Cloud platform.
Qualifications
  • The Network Engineer will be responsible for the oversight and management of Salesforce's client facing applications, servers, and network 24x7.
  • You will be a member of an existing team dedicated to solving difficult challenges and providing high level support at Salesforce.
  • You will recommend and implement changes to the production environment that improve the stability and performance and security of a large scale Linux computing platform
  • Excellent technical and people skills are an absolute necessity.
Requirements
  • Junior at a University
  • Experience with (RedHat, Apache, LDAP, Java Applications)
  • Preferred knowledge TCP/IP network fundamentals
  • PreferredExperience with configuration management tools such as CFengine, Puppet, or Chef
  • Ability to develop complex scripts using at least two common system administration scripting languages preferably shell and Perl
  • Hands on experience with large autonomous Linux installations a plus.
  • Ability to perform performance and kernel tuning as well as deep troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Experience with engineering tools such as bug tracking and source code control systems
  • Ability to help develop and implement governance and security processes (i.e. Sarbanes-Oxley, SAS70, PCI, etc.)
  • Detail oriented and careful
  • Preferred Experience with hardware load balancers
  • Preferred Experience with NFS storage subsystems
  • Preferred Experience with Advanced Routing Protocols (BGP, OSPF)
  • Preferred Experience working with and deploying complex networks that make use of multiple VLANS and routing
  • Must be a US Citizen or US Resident Alien
